Wataru Matoba (的場 航海 Matoba Wataru) is a first-year university student taking up Literature. He is the bassist and lyricist for the band Argonavis, and is the younger brother of Kenta Satozuka.
Personality[]
In stark contrast to the hot-blooded, idealistic, and optimistic Yuto, he is more cautious, realistic and pessimistic, often finding the negatives to Yuto's attempts to be positive. And yet, it's because he wants the band to be a success. He has an inferiority complex towards his older brother Kenta, and wants to surpass him.
History[]
His father was a mariner, and his mother was often absent due to working as a nurse, so he spent much of his childhood together with his older brother, Kenta. Seeing his older brother in a band inspired him to pick up bass. However, he formed an inferiority complex towards him, growing to resent him.
Etymology[]
Wataru (航海) means "sailing" or "voyage". It can be split into two parts: 航 which could mean "aviation" and 海 means "sea". Both 航[1] and 海[2] can be read as Wataru.
Matoba (的場) can be split into two parts: Mato (的) means "target" while Ba (場) means "location" or "place".
